Three Myths Surrounding Acupuncture

To many people Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is a new concept even though it’s a regular part of life for half the world. Problem is, that half of the population is on the other side of the planet, so we don’t really get the full exposure of how this medicine works on the daily. I personally love breaking down the misconceptions surrounding Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine because I think I’ve heard all of them by now, I mean it’s been eight years! So let me TMZ you and let’s clear up what’s gossip and what’s truth regarding acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

TRUE or FALSE:

1. Acupuncture is fake news - FALSE

In fact Acupuncture is very real. Can you see it? No. Can you measure it? Not exactly. Is something happening? Yes. So here’s my answer to everyone when they ask me, “Does Acupuncture Really Work?” Well, things don’t stick around if they don’t work and acupuncture has been on this planet for over 3000 years helping over a billion people by now sooooo yah. There’s no longer string of medical evidence than this.

TRUE or FALSE:

2. Acupuncture is painful - FALSE

Acupuncture is not supposed to hurt. The most amount of pain you would feel is a slight pinch, that’s it. Acupuncture needles are not syringes or hypodermic needles, which are thicker and hollow so they can inject or withdraw different substances. We don’t do that, so get that image out of your head. Our needles are much thinner and are comparable to a strand of human hair or a cat’s whisker. Awwwww.

TRUE or FALSE:

3. Acupuncture is for weirdos and hippies – FALSE

One of my favourite things about acupuncture is how accessible it is. Meaning it is a low cost treatment can help just about every ailment. It is made for everyone, from the person trying to get pregnant sitting in the cubicle next to you, to your cousin getting their digestive system in order, even many celebs like Katy Perry and athletes like Kobe Bryant get it done! Don’t you want to feel like Kobe? I do.

Okay so those were all FALSE. So what’s TRUE? Well here’s what’s up:

1. Acupuncture is dope

2. Acupuncture can help you with everything from colds, pain and stress to fertility, cancer treatment support and insomnia

3. A lot of people don’t know this, but there are tons of Community Acupuncture (CA) clinics internationally that offer acupuncture at a reduced rate. Here’s a link that has CA clinics in the U.S. & Canada. It’s a great place to start.
